From reference photo to painting

This painting was commissioned by one dear friend who got married last autumn solstice in 2025.

Their talented photographer allowed me to use this photo as a reference for the painting. See it below!

In my interpretation, I used a muted, limited palette to create a warm colour impressionistic atmosphere, with a hint of a bright lilac detail in the boutonnieres worn by the couple.

Instead of detailing the landscape and creating realistic portraits, I recreated an impression of the couple and how the day felt like. When I asked Basti about this photo, he told me that in this moment, both of them were feeling extremely happy and chill, at last they could let go of preparations and all the stress of planning their wedding. They felt at peace and in a state of full joy, happily together.

I wanted to portray that feeling as close as possible, more than depicting the scene realistically. These colours expressed the vibe, the warmth of their loved ones joining them of this beautiful day. This painting is meant to be a memory to look back for years to come.
